MRS. DALLOWAY AND THE AEROPLANE
Tisch School of the Arts
"This late age of the world's experience had bred in them all, all men and women, a well of tears. Tears and sorrows; courage and endurance..."
Based on a fragment of Virginia Woolf's luminous novel, this half-hour musical is a meditation on the connections we miss and the meanings we make in an age when both can seem scarce. An aeroplane, skywriting high above post-WWI London, sparks the imaginations of half a dozen unrelated Londoners in the streets and parks below. Clarissa Dalloway, buying the flowers for tonight's party, wonders why everyone is gazing up at the sky.
